If you are a keen naturalist or adventure-seeker and are content with the bare necessities of clean and comfortable facilities, Danum Valley Field Centre is for you!
Approximately 80 metres west from Lahad Datu on Sabah’s east coast, the field centre is accessible by road and the journey takes at least two hours. It is the habitual grounds to over 500 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians living relatively untouched. The hot and humid jungle deems with a variety of towering tropical trees, lingering lianas, exotic orchids, and overhanging epiphytes.

of activities for that quintessential Bornean experience!
Start the day observing early-morning wildlife as you climb up a tree-hide, take a dip into the river to escape the midday heat or trek your way up to Bukit Atur to catch one of Borneo’s best sunrises! For the adventurous, you may opt for the longer hiking trails. And for the night owls, nightly walks may suit your fancy for a chance to spot some nocturnal wildlife. For something a little bit more on the leisure side, recharge and unwind in a stretcher hammock by the base of a waterfall!
Fun Fact :
The Spectacled Flowerpecker is a new species of bird (belonging to the flowerpecker family) discovered in the Danum Valley Conservation Area in June 2009.

Day 1 :Lahad Datu – Danum Valley (Lunch & Dinner)
- Meet & greet from Lahad Datu airport or hotel lobby.
- Pick up at Lahad Datu Airport for your 2 hours 30 mins. Overland journey drive to the Danum
- Valley Conservation Area. Enjoy the changing landscapes of the regenerating forests to virgin rainforests of a million years old! Check-in to the Borneo Rainforest Lodge and prepare yourself for an introduction trek on the Nature Trail & Canopy Walkway.
- Guided Safari Night Drive after dinner.
Overnight at Borneo Rainforest Lodge.
Day 2 : Danum Valley (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
- Wake up to the calls of the Bornean Gibbons and start your day with a trek to the View Point, Kadazandusun burial site – Coffin Cliff. Take a short break by the Natural Jacuzzi pool for a refreshing dip before lunch at the Lodge.
- Afternoon optional activities: A Guided Jungle Trekking or if weather permits, Water Tubing session down the Danum River or guest’s own leisure.
- Guided Night Walk on the Nature Trail after dinner.
Overnight at Borneo Rainforest Lodge.
Day 3 : Danum Valley (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
- Trek to Fairy Falls & Serpent Falls. Return to the Lodge for lunch.
- Afternoon optional activities: Guided Trekking along Segama River or guest’s own leisure.

Day 4 : Home (Breakfast)
- Optional: An early morning walk and return to the Lodge for lunch before checking-out for transfer to Lahad Datu Airport for onward flights.
