Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre

The Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary was set up to rehabilitate orphaned and/or injured baby orangutans, aiming to have them returned back into the wild. Here, you will have the opportunity to watch the orangutans up close in their natural habitat.

Food brings people together and it certainly brings orangutans together too! We’ll get you here right before feeding time, and prepare to be amazed by these cheeky little creatures!

Orangutan Adoption

The destruction of rain forest habitats have caused the orangutan populations to decline drastically over the years. watch the orangutans up close in their natural habitat. With your help, we can change this. You can take comfort that these adorable little fellas are being cared for, being taught survival skills and possibly even return to the wild.

Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre

This interesting day trip will be followed by a visit to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, where you will get to watch this very unique species of bears, called the Sun Bear. Sun bears are the smallest of the bear species and can be found in tropical forests in Southeast Asia.

Populations of Sun Bears are rapidly diminishing due to serious threats from habitat loss and commercial hunting. Increasing protection and guaranteeing survivals of Sun Bears in Borneo is one of the main missions behind the conservation centre.

Go and meet the bears, and watch them hunt for their favourite thing in the world: honey!

This really is a unique opportunity to watch the Bornean Sun Bear, up close.

Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary

The mangrove forest at the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary covers about 400 acres, with 2 different platforms, giving visitors an excellent view of these proboscis monkeys. Don’t know what proboscis monkeys are? They are endemic to Borneo!  They are not even found throughout all of Borneo, they are forest-dwellers and limited mainly to coastal swamp forests next to large rivers. Be sure to check out these rare species!

Rainforest Discovery Centre

The gateway to getting to know the uniqueness and importance of Borneo’s rainforests.

Situated 23 kilometres from Sandakan Town and not too far from the Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre, the RDC’s main highlights are its exhibition halls, the Plant Discovery Garden, the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve, environmental education programmes and a small lake for boat rides.

The RDC also gives visitors a chance to get intimate with nature through its Nature Experience programme which includes a guided walk to the Plant Discovery Garden, Rainforest Walk and indoor/outdoor activities.
